MCHH 2019 - 2020 Executive Team
Cassidy is a third-year Political Science student at McMaster University and a Founding Partner of Model City Hall. After organizing the conference in Toronto for three years and moving to Hamilton, Cassidy Co-founded Model City Hall Hamilton with Ruby Hye. Outside of Model City Hall, Cassidy enjoys hiking Hamilton’s trails, writing for magazines and newspapers, and spending time with friends and family.
Assistant Conference Chair
Sammie Dhillon is in her fourth year of studies towards a Bachelor of Science with a Minor in Political Science at McMaster University. She genuinely enjoys pursuing leadership roles and has been fortunate to have had a wealth of relevant experience. Sammie had the honour of leading a caucus of 60+ Ontario students as Premier at Ontario Model Parliament, attending the G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ meeting in Whistler, British Columbia as a selected finalist for the Minister of Finance’s G7 Student Challenge, and going on a trade mission to Peru as a Junior Team Canada Ambassador. She is currently serving her second term as a Chair for the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues for the McMaster Model United Nations conference. She looks forward to working with everyone to make MCHH a huge success!
Ruby Hye is completing Grade 12 at Westmount Secondary. They spent a year abroad in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where they organized the first queer arts show in Mostar, BiH. They are passionate about disability justice and anti-racism work, and are a research coordinator at the Disability Justice Network of Ontario. They were elected student trustee for the 2017-2018 academic year, and also worked as a co-op placement student in Councillor Green’s Ward 3 office at the City of Hamilton. They are one of the co-founders of Model City Hall Hamilton, and are looking forward to bringing more Hamiltonian youth to the seats of power in the City this year.
Zenobia is a grade eleven student at Westmount Secondary School, interested in healthcare, education, and business administration. She spent her summer participating in a service leadership program at a local primary government school in India working on the improvement of their quality of education and learning environment. Zenobia is very excited to be a committee co-chair at Model City Hall, and hopes to showcase and develop leadership and communication skills with this unique opportunity within the community. An interesting fact about Zenobia is that she is on her way to learning her fifth language, and her hobbies include public speaking, classical dance, and spending time with friends and family.
Olivia is a full-time student in her third year studying Political Science with a Specialization in Public Law and Judicial Studies at McMaster University. She is also a mentor for the McMaster Social Sciences Society where she will work to assist and support lower level students. Aside from her interests in politics and the law, Olivia enjoys exercising, reading and writing, and spending time with her friends and family. As a Committee Co-Chair for McMaster Model City Hall Hamilton, Olivia hopes to build strong connections and network with the broader Hamilton community as well as engage with some of the most important political issues to the City of Hamilton.
Eric is a grade 11 student attending Iroquois Ridge High School and is an avid participant of MUN conferences. He is highly interested in economics and politics, interns for a medical startup, and is a very competitive DECA competitor. In his free time, he can be found hiking various trails in the GTA, preparing for a range of competitions, or just chilling and watching Netflix. Eric is delighted to Co-Chair at MCHH this year, hoping to provide a wonderful experience for delegates and have a blast while at it.
Allyson is currently a grade 12 student at White Oaks Secondary School and is actively involved in debate. She enjoys all things related to politics and technology. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, watching Marvel films or playing table tennis. She is excited to be a committee co-chair at MCHH this year!
Oscar is a grade 10 student at White Oaks Secondary School that enjoys spending his time attending Model UN conferences worldwide. He is passionate in Business and Medical Science and is looking to major in 1 of them in university. In his free time, Oscar enjoys watching anime and Youtube. Oscar is also very excited to be a committee co-chair at Model City Hall this year and is looking forward to meeting everyone!
Sebastian is in his final year of high school at Sherwood Secondary School and is widely active in conservative politics. He has an unhealthy obsession with all things Dolly Parton, Ronald Reagan, Seersucker, and Golden Girls. Sebastian served as the Progressive Conservative member for Hamilton-Centre and Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs at the 2019 Model Parliament Program. Over the summer, Sebastian was invited to the Supreme Court of Canada to attend the swearing in of the Honourable Janet Fuhrer, Justice of the Federal Court of Canada and judge ex officio of the Federal Court of Appeal. He serves as the Social Media Director for Peter Dyakowski’s election campaign in Hamilton-Mountain. After high school Sebastian hopes to become a lawyer, just like his aunt.
Roble is a third-year Political Science student at McMaster University. He enjoys studying foreign policy and loves international relations. Moreover, Roble is interested in law and plans to take the LSAT in December of 2020. Besides academics Roble organizes recreational events for McMaster students from movie screenings, casual video game tournaments and much more with McMaster Geeks. Roble looks forward to being Co-Committee Chair again this year and as a Hamilton native is very excited to explore municipal affairs.
Julie is an eleventh grade student at St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School who is interested in engineering and loves to help people in any way she can. Her interest in a wide range of subjects gives her an open minded perspective and an abundance of sometimes outrageous ideas! She enjoys math and hopes to study for an engineering degree. Julie can often be found wandering around in a library or staying after school to tinker with her robotics team. She loves reading, making music, and all things computers!
A junior attending John Fraser Secondary School in Mississauga, Shane is honored to serve as the Academic Director for MCHH 2020. Ever since he first raised his placard as a timid middle-schooler, Shane has embarked on a thrilling journey through politics, diplomacy, and global affairs that has seen him avidly travel to numerous conferences in both Canada and the States. When he is not found complaining about a lack of sleep, Shane enjoys taking long bike rides around his neighbourhood, spendly unreasonably large amounts of money on bubble tea, debating politics, and posting low-quality pictures of his dog on Instagram.
Oyinloluwa is an 11th grade student at Hillfield Strathallan College. She first fell in love with model government two years ago when she joined her school’s Model United Nations delegation. Since then, she has competed in numerous Model UN conferences, winning several awards. At her school, she serves as both an Executive Ambassador and as a Co-Chair of the Wee Braveheart Committee. She is a core member of The Net ACS, an Ancaster-based youth empowerment group. Oyinloluwa enjoys dystopian literature, creative writing, and public speaking. You can find her memorizing irrelevant facts, watching a period drama, loudly socializing with friends, or hiding in a library. She is excited to share her skills as an Academic Director at MCHH this year!
Karen is a full-time second year student at McMaster University, who is currently studying Life Sciences with a specialization in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour. She is very excited to be a part of MCHH as she hopes to deepen her knowledge in municipal politics and inspire others to create an impact on current issues. Aside from MCHH, she is also the Vice President of Outreach for McMaster’s Students Offering Support, and the Director of Music Education at Musicbox Children’s Charity. This has helped fuel her pursuit in global health and her aspirations in working to improve health systems in developing countries.
Esther, in her final year of high school at Westdale, is excited to be a marketing director this year in MCHH! She is passionate about accessibility for marginalized peoples, having a good time, and working in student-led events such as Hack the Hammer and the one and only MCHH.
Nina is a part-time student, but a full-time public transit and biking fanatic. She is the other half of the Environmental Community of Hamilton Students co-founding duo, and can often be found scheming up out-of-left-field plots to fight for issues dear to her heart. Through MCHH, Nina hopes that she will be able to empower others to scheme and plot as well.
Brianna is a full-time Political Science student at McMaster University, who plans on attending Law School after she graduates. She is also a member of the Labour Studies Student Association at her school, and is very passionate about labour laws and worker’s rights. Joining MCHH is very exciting for Brianna, as she knows it is a great way to begin engaging in important municipal topics, and building connections with people in Hamilton.
Olivia Hopen is currently completing the Audition-Based Program of the Arts at Glendale Secondary and is heavily involved in the Hamilton arts community. Olivia is passionate about youth involvement in the Hamilton arts scene, and is committed to making Hamilton an accessible space for emerging artists. She is a team member of the Artistic Leadership and Entrepreneurship Training Program (ALERT) in Hamilton, and is thrilled to be producing the winter site-specific theatre Frost Bites this February. Olivia is so excited to be part of the MCHH executive team this year!
Alida is currently a grade eleven student at Westmount Secondary School who is passionate about healthcare, education and the arts. She joined MCHH in hopes to further leadership skills and be apart of something impactful in the Hamilton community. As one of the sponsorship directors Alida will be in touch with small businesses and large corporations to support the running of MCHH. Although Alida is very focused on her future career and education, she also finds time to do the things she loves including painting, playing guitar and being apart of Xpressions Creative Dance’s competitive team.
Fatima is currently a grade 12 student at Ancaster Highschool and passionate about neuroscience and tackling climate change. She shares her passion for the environment as President of her school environmental club, The Eco-Ninjas, which is responsible for donating money to trustworthy organization and making sure her school campus is clean. Fatima volunteers at a local Hospital, a natural choice as she’s always willing to help others. In her free time, Fatima loves to paint and spend time with her friends. Fatima is very excited to be a part of MCHH as sponsorship director and she not only hopes to learn a lot from this experience, but she also wishes to make strong bonds with the other executive members.
Mateusz is in his third year of the Arts & Science, Mathematics and Statistics program at McMaster University. As a Data Scientist in the Statistics Canada McMaster Research Data Centre, he is passionate about computational psychiatry and cyber security. Mateusz is very excited to be the Webmaster of MCHH; he hopes to support and promote the wonderful work conducted by everyone involved in MCHH.
Eric is a grade 11 student at The Woodlands School in Mississauga. Eric has been a volunteer event photographer for the Churchill Meadows Residents Association (CMRA) for the past two years, and the photographer for his school robotics team (FRC 4308), and is excited to be MCHH’s photographer. He actively engages in artistic extra-curriculars as a singer and a saxophonist. Eric also enjoys hands-on learning in the computer engineering field, and would like to attend the University of Waterloo.
